Heliconia Halts Video Production in Response to COVID-19: Company focuses on fueling wanderlust in temporarily grounded adventurers

Heliconia, video production and marketing company behind the adventure travel series Epic Trails and Facing Waves, has suspended film shoots in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. With a halt on new video production, the company has shifted their focus to fueling wanderlust and inspiring adventurers who have been forced to put their travels on hold for the time being.

“We are intimately aware of the global effects COVID-19 is having on the tourism industry,” shares Heliconia President, Ken Whiting“It’s forced us all to stop in our tracks, slow down, re-evaluate marketing campaigns, and for us—postpone any new films shoots and video production projects. Our team, now working remotely, recognizes that while we aren’t able to film new adventure travel content at the moment, we can help inspire and entertain people during these difficult times with the photographs and video assets we have on hand.”

The video production company is keeping a close eye on COVID-19 developments and has postponed film shoots for the time being.  “We know this will eventually come to an end,” Whiting explains. “We are continuing to plan with our partners and will be ready to pick-up where we left off and dive right back into video production once it is safe to do so.”

In the meantime, the Heliconia team will be continuing to share inspiring photographs, VLOGs and tip videos on the Epic Trails and Facing Waves social accounts, as well as making previous seasons available for consumption via their vast distribution network. Heliconia’s series air on such television networks as OutsideTV, 27 US Regional Sports Networks, Sportsman Channel, and the World Fishing Network. The shows are also available on select streaming platforms, including Amazon Prime, Roku, AppleTV and more. Heliconia’s online messaging will be that of encouraging people to enjoy these adventures from the comfort, and safety of their homes, while hoping to inspire them to plan their own trips for when things get back to normal.

According to technology market research provider Omdia, digital media consumption is likely to increase by 50% and the online streaming industry grow by 12% as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. “It’s easy to feel helpless in the face of such an overwhelming situation. We’re grateful to be able to provide some escapism and, through our adventure travel series, help fuel wanderlust until it’s safe to travel once again,” reflects Whiting.
