Dream Job Alert: Heliconia Looking for New Host for Epic Trails Media Project

Beachburg, Ontario: Heliconia, the award-winning video production company behind the Epic Trails television series and the BackpackingTV YouTube Channel, is looking for the new face of its Epic Trails media project. Now entering its 7th Season, Epic Trails is an adventure travel television series that spotlights the people, places, and adventures surrounding the world’s top hiking destinations. With the mission to help get people out on the trails, the media project produces high-quality, engaging content for television, social (Instagram and Facebook) as well as YouTube (BackpackingTV). 

Since its inception seven years ago, Epic Trails has been inspiring people around the world to experience the benefits of sustainable outdoor adventure through informative, educational, and entertaining storytelling. Over the years, the Epic Trails team has filmed in over 16 countries, including Papua New Guinea, Dominica, Rwanda, Uganda, New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, Sweden, Peru, Poland, Jordan, and the UK. Television episodes have aired internationally on OutsideTV, Bally Sports, PBS, and National Geographic, while YouTube content is released year-round to over 122,000 subscribers on BackpackingTV.

Epic Trails is truly a passion project”, explains Executive Producer Brendan Mark. “The whole media project is driven by the desire to help get people outside hiking and backpacking. We couldn’t be more excited about officially launching the casting call for a new host!” 

The ideal host will have a passion for inspiring people to experience the transformative benefits of backpacking and hiking, be an engaging storyteller, have great presence on screen, have experience creating content for social media and an understanding of video production, follow sustainable camping practices (leave no trace) and share the belief that the outdoors is a space for everyone regardless of race, gender, sexuality, age, ability, or size. 

This full-time, salaried, position will see the host of Epic Trails filming up to 8 television episodes a year and creating consistent content for both YouTube and the media project’s social channels (@epictrails365).
