The Adventure Cities team was in the Sunshine State of Florida to explore and experience all that St. Pete / Clearwater has to offer. From the beautiful beaches to the vibrant local food scene, Adventure Cities’ host Jonathan Thompson was in for a treat.
Jonathan and the Adventure Cities team were welcomed by Visit St. Pete / Clearwater and locals to St. Petersburg, Florida, a thriving beach town with plenty of experiences to offer. Jumping straight into the adventure, Jonathan soared over the water on a water-jet flyboard, paddled a custom-made, clear kayak through the mangroves and nature preserves, explored groups of islands hidden by the changing tides via jet ski, joined local mural artist Derek Donnelly from Saint Paint Arts on a mural tour around St. Petersburg on eBikes powered by Bosch drive systems, tasted some of the finest natural honey on the rooftop of the St. Petersburg Museum of Fine Arts, learned how to play shuffleboard at the oldest and largest shuffleboard club in the world, and landed a large trout with Captain Bob off the gulf coast in Clearwater before a unique catch’n cook experience with Olde Bay Café in Dunedin.
While the incredible sunsets of southern Florida were visible at every turn, an inspiring passion for adventure, food, and the outdoors was palpable in all of Jonathan’s interactions with locals. A new favorite destination for the Adventure Cities team, it’s safe to say that there are many adventures yet to be had in this sun-soaked region.
