Adventure Cities Trip Report – Ottawa, Canada

The Adventure Cities team returned from another adventure filled film shoot, this time in Canada’s capital city of Ottawa. This was the fourth film shoot of the series, and it showed both Adventure Cities host, Jonathan Thompson, and crew a surprising side of this political town.

As the capital of Canada, Ottawa has wrongly been accused of being a dull city full of public servants and not much fun. The folks at Ottawa Tourism were keen to dispel that myth and show the Adventure Cities crew that if you know where to look, you’ll find that the city is full of vibrant culture and adrenaline rushes.

While in Ottawa, the Adventure Cities team stayed at the famous Fairmont Le Château Laurier. This luxury hotel, located between the Parliament Buildings and the ByWard Market, was home-base for their many adventures, which included whitewater rafting down the Ottawa River, escaping the world’s largest escape room at The Diefenbunker (Canada’s Cold War Museum), and racing down the side of the Gatineau Hills on a mountain coaster.

Jonathan also got the chance to experience adventure high up above the city, flying over Ottawa in a biplane, jumping off the country’s highest bungee jump at Great Canadian Bungee, and ziplining down the world’s first inter-provincial zipline.

Ottawa is not only a city full of adventure, but also great food and drink. Jonathan visited Dairy Distillery, the makers of Vodkow Milk Vodka, went on a ride with Ottawa’s Party Bike The Thursty Pedaler, and tasted the uniquely Canadian BeaverTail.

A sleepy government town? We think not.
